Day 0--The Journey there
It was an incredibly long journey to the town of Jeuno from Windurst...The four of us (Expresso, Oceania, Zahan, and myself) all travelled together for just one purpose...to get my very own chocobo! It's been the latest craze throughout the lands and i felt it was time that i joined that craze! Once in Jeuno, i realized i had a difficult choice to make, what kind of egg to get! The nice Mithra had three to choose from, but to my untrained eye they look virtually identical. After careful consideration, I finally picked one that felt right in my hands and i knew that this would be the greatest Chocobo ever raised! With egg in hand I paid the nice Mithra and went to show off my egg to my friends. Zahan bought one with me and we spent some time comparing our eggs. Just between you and me, i must admit, I thought my egg was much better...waaay better coloring to it. My untrained eye must have been slightly less untrained than Zahan's:P After we were done comparing our eggs, Expresso gave us some food to help care for the chick when it was born, who knows how long that could take?!? With excitement i had my sweety (Oceania) Warp me back home to my wonderful Mog house in Windurst (where i proceeded to show my Moogle my egg, he was so excited!). With a skip in my step, I ran to the chocobo stables where I talked to Pulonono, who took my egg from me and set it up in it's very own little stable! We discussed chocobo's for some time and decided on a great care schedule that will surely let my choco grow up healthy and strong!
Day 1--my egg
First thing the next day i promptly headed to the chocobo stables again and talked to Pulonomo...After a few moments of hesitation, she led me straight to my egg. It looked nice and peaceful there as I watched it and then to my amazement, the egg started to shake! As if the Chick inside knew i was watching it. That just confirmed my belief that i picked the right egg! Oh i couldn't wait to rub it, er i mean tell Zahan how much my chick wanted to see me! After a short while I noticed most of the stable hands weren't watching, so I took a chance and snuck the egg into my Tunic. I knew that it wanted to go on a walk as much as I did! I traveled throughout Windy ( that's what I like to call Windurst, rolls off the tongue better) showing my egg the fountain, the star tree and all the other great sites in Windy! After just few hours i knew it was time to head back, how i hoped no one would see me sneak back in with my egg, but of course, there was Pulonono waiting for me. Wow did I ever get the lecture of my life! She seemed so sweet and innocent, but oh how wrong I was. I made a pledge right then and there...don't piss her off again. I plan on heading back tomorrow, hopefully everything will be smoothed over when i head back...
Day 3--my egg
Well i'm kicking myself, I missed going to my egg yesterday, but all in all, i can't be too down on myself...It was a busy day thwarting monsters throughout the countryside...I did go and see it today, and i must say the Egg is looking ready to explode! I'm sure i saw a small crack on the egg, a perfect spot for the chick to appear...ooohhhh I'm so excited to see what it is! So much to prepare for, how will I ever find the time?
Day 4--It's a BOY
I can't believe it! Today my chocobo hatched! I must have given it some extra special care while it was an egg to hatch this soon! (It was the walk around town, I know it). So much to do with him on his first day aware of his surroundings. I took him for a nice walk around Sarutabaruta, where he was utterly facinated by some tree. I sat with him for some time playing around and letting him get to know me. Ahhh what a carefree way to spend the afternoon
Day 5--Sickness sets in
It had to be the saddest thing i've ever seen, right when i came in Pulonomo told me that my little guy was very sick and that i needed to get some chocobo medicine for him right away. I went straight to the Auction House and picked up some Tokopekko Grass, which i was told would alleviate my Choco's sickness. I immediately set back to the Stables where i fed my little guy the grass...he didn't really like it, but i think he knew it would make him get better. Now i just sit back and hope it works
Day 6--all better
That tokopekko grass is some amazing stuff. I came in the very next day and my choco was feeling great! Once again i took him for a walk and he fell in love with that tree again...might have to find a different spot to walk him here soon. I spent some more time with him which he loved...now to see what tomorrow brings...
Day 7--Crying in the night
I came in today to check up on my choco, and Pulonono came at me with a vengeance! It seems my Chocobo has been crying a kweh-ing all through the night because he misses me. As nice as that is, It's a pain to have Pulonono riding my case all the time. As I sat around and Played with him, I came up with a brilliant idea! I asked Pulonono for a hankerchief so that i could carry it around with me, tomorrow i'll bring it in, hopefully enough of my scent will be on it to calm the poor little guy down. I guess I can't blame him for missing me, lots of people have that problem when i'm not around...
Day 8--A calmer chocobo
Well i brought in my hankerchief in today, hopefully that'll stop the screaming in the nite, I'll have to come in tomorrow and check up on him to see how he's doing. Took him for another walk today and met Pulonomo out walking her chocobo. Spring was it's name, which got me to thinking i need to name my little guy. I'll mull it over today and figure out a good name for him, can't be too hasty on such an important thing as a name!
Day 9--He finally gets a name
Nimble Glory, what a fine name for my choco, and boy did he ever love it to death! He went crazy with excitement, kweh-ing all through the stables and strutting around. He must have learned the strut from me, cause it was pretty impressive strutting if i do say so myself. We went for a walk out in Sarutabaruta again, and ran into Pulonomo, Spring and Nimble Glory went frolicing through the plains for a while, and i got some time with Pulonomo without all the stable hustle and bustle...maybe she's not as bad as I thought, she taught me a story her chobo loves, so i might have to go try it out 2moro...
Day 10--a story told
I came in the chocobo stables today, of course to see my little guy, and was excited to see him jumping around in excitement to see me. We sat there together for awhile enjoying our time together, when i rembered that i had a story to tell him. I spent some time with him telling him the story and explaining all about the chocobo in the story...I don't know if he understands me, but it seems to me he does. He's definately a smart little guy. I guess he takes after me after all.
Day 13--sickness takes hold
It'd been a few days since i've seen Nimble Glory, but life was catching up to me, fighting battles and exploring new areas, but i made it a point to go see him and i'm glad i did. Poor little guy was sicker than a dog. Face drooping, barely kweh-ing at all. I felt like the worse care taker in the world! I talked to Pulonono about it and she recommended some Tokopeko grass to help him get better. I decided to head to the Auction House to see if I could pick some up, but on the way there someone stopped me with shouts of Chocobo wares. My curiosity got the better of me, and since he was just right there, I decided to take a look to see what he offered. GOOD GRIEF! some of the things he were selling were outrageously priced! I was just feeding Nimble Glory some vegetables ground up to in a paste, but he was trying to sell me some carrots ground up for some outrageous price! I almost left right then and there when I saw the tokopeko grass. I checked to see how much he wanted for that and was shocked to discover how much the medicine was. I didn't have insurance so i was forced to pay full price for it (blasted windurstian healthcare!). I headed right back in and gave Nimble the grass. He hated the taste, but he forced it down after i encouraged him a little. I'll have to check back tomorrow to see if he's better or not.
Day 14--All better
Came in this morning to check on Nimble and found him jumping around in excitement again, as well as can be! I knew he'd still be a little ill, so i checked the weather out in Sarutabaruta and discovered it was warm and sunny, so i thought a short walk would be good for us. Once again that blasted tree held up our walk, but we had a good time nonetheless. It made me wonder how many chocobo's pause and "check out" that tree. I'm gonna try and avoid that path next time.
Day 17--A bad decision?
I can't believe i spent that kinda money on my Chocobo, what was i thinking? Ever since i passed that vendor outside the chocobo stables, that carrot paste has been in the back of my mind. I happened to come across a little exta money (someone really desparate apparently needed to pay over 10 times for an item i made, i must be getting famous) and decided to splurge. I checked the Auction House to see the prices and noticed that they've come down considerable in the last month or so, but i still bought a whole stack of the things! Nimble seemed to enjoy them considerably, a change of diet must have been good for him. But as i look back on the day i can't help but think that I over spent...Oh well, I'll share my wealth i guess.
Day 18--A wise investment indeed!
I must be the most un-observant person in Windurst. I came in today and couldn't help but notice how much bigger Nimble Glory had gotten! He was prancing around, full of pent up energy. I couldn't help but thing that those carrot paste had something to do with it, giving him more energy and giving him the biggest growth spurt i've ever seen! I'm probably deluding myself, but i think it was a good investment now. We decided to take a longer walk because of all his extra energy and went out to tahrongi canyon. I should have checked the weather there cause it was windier than i was used to. Nimble didn't seem to mind it so much though. I fed him some more paste today, but i don't think he's enjoying it as much as he did. I think I might not grind it up anymore for him...
Day 19--Snobs <found it!>
I came in today and decided another walk in Tahrongi canyon would be a good idea, especially since the weather was going to be nicer and it was there that i ran into the most snobbish people i'd ever met! There were 3 of them: Bashraf, Foudeel, and Wahboud all raising the same chocobo! They named him Best, but i couldn't help but think that he was probably the most confused Chocobo on the planet having three people constantly coming at him. I guess it just goes to show the Laziness of Humes, tackling a job with 3 people that 1 could do. After they berrated Nimble for a little while, I decided I couldn't take it anymore and snapped at them. It was then that they challenged me to a race. In my anger I agreed. Tomorrow's the big day, i just hope Nimble's got what it takes...
Day 20--Day at the races
I showed up at the fountain right when i said we would, Nimble was prouncing around in anticipation of the coming event and all the people around the area. And just ahead of me was the three snobs and Best. They started off the conversation with boasts for Best and putdowns for Nimble. I couldn't take it too long and we finally got down to racing. I have to admit it was exciting to watch. Both of them neck and neck racing around the fountain. I was worried for a moment that Nimble was falling behind, but it must have just been the angle i was watching from, cause as they came to the finish line Nimble was clearly in the lead! As he passed over the Finish Line i jumped for joy and glanced over at the 3 Humes, their mouths agape in shock. I went over to Nimble and praised him for a few minutes, and then we went over to the snobs to gloat. I couldn't believe the excuses they made, how Best wasn't feeeling well, and next time they would stomp me. Not even a congratulations. I shook my head and walked away from them...not sure if i'll be racing them again...
Day 22--Sick again
All of that competing must have worn out Nimble, I went in there today and discovered him lying on some straw gazing meakly at me. I knew i had to go get some more Tokopeko grass right away and was completely impressed with myself that i knew right away what was needed for him. I decided to pick up a bunch from the Auction House this time, no more shady individuals outside the stable this time, and discovered that they'd taken a bit of a price drop. I picked one up hurriedly and spent the day with Nimble, telling stories, idle chitchat, and just spending some time together.
Day 23--Better
Once again that Tokopeko grass has done the trick. Completely recovered. We took a walk out in Sarutabaruta today and i discovered a new path, one away from that tree. It was nice, right along the cliffs by the sea. We spent a little time there and Pulonomo even came along with Spring (her chick that had also grown considerably) and we chatted as the two choco's played together. The rest of the day was spent walking around and enjoying each other's company.
Day 25--Bored
Came in today to discover Nimble being all restless. Prouncing around and not paying hardly any attention to me. I'd never seen him do that, so i went to Pulonomo for some advice. She thought he looked kinda bored and irritated and suggested Racing him around the fountain again, and maybe playing with some other chocobo's when i wasn't around. I decided that it was pretty sound advice and set up a race for the next day with the three snobs again. I also got with Pulonomo and set up some time for Nimble to play with some other chocobo's in the stable
Day 26--Another day at the races
I can't believe we lost. Everything was going so good, they were neck and neck when they were coming around the fountain and then Best got a spurt of speed, taking the lead and the race away from Nimble. I was a little sad, but still proud that Nimble Glory had given his best. (I think that's what every dad says when they're boy is a loser, but damnit, i meant it!). Once again those three humes (Bashraf, Foudeel, and Wahboud) were every bit as snobby as i thought they would be. I took they're berrating in good stride and spent the rest of the day with Nimble, praising him up some and letting him know that he was still my favorite Chocobo!
