Vicious Mufflers.
Sounds interesting, yes?
The new update brought on a whole host of items that were dutifully added to my wish list. Among them were these nifty little gloves. I looked up some info and decided, "hey its a pop NM, all i need is a few willing souls and these bad boys will be mine in no time." Intel on this item and the Bloodlapper that drops them suggest that it is easily soloed by a RDM/NIN or duoed by assorted people, so obviously if i have and experienced crew of 4 this bug will be munching dirt in no time and i will be sporting new gloves.
Wrong. Dead Wrong.
I (We) made 2 runs at this little bastard with marginal results. I MUST give proper credit where credit is due because i couldn't with out the skills of these wonderful peeps.
Team 1:
Myself
Crimmy
Oldgrif
Pez
Typh
I would like to say this was the kill team but alas, i can not, instead we were the killed team. I would like to especially thank these guys for scarificing their hard earned XP to learn that the Bloodlapper hits hard, fast and shows no mercy. For an easy fight it was terrible one sided and ended within 5 minutes. I had to give these guys much love because the second fight would not have been possible without them.
Team 2:
Myself
Crimmy
Typh
Expresso
Anouk
Hanaji
This team was victorious, however is was an extremely difficult fight. We almost wiped 3 times and on 2 seperate occasions the Bloodlapper used drain on hanaji and I for1.2k effectively one shoting us. (Note: I wish i could get that kind of mileage out of my drain.) Without diligent and accurate Sleeps of our mages we would have been toast, instead we were able to rest, regroup and prepare to finish. Even then it was still close.
I want to thank each and everyone of you for your efforts, because in my mind both attempts lead to victory and I couldnt have done without you. If you guys need me, all you have to do is call and Iwill be there.
Moral of this story is to not believe what someone you don't know posts on a website and to always bring a small army when you think one or two people will do.
That being said, here is what we decided for success. A party of 6 with a dedicated tank can do it but it wont be pretty. A strong Sleeper is needed for those "OH nuts" moments. I think a minimum of 10 for safety, with dual tanks and either THF or /THF for Hate swapping duties.
But enough of that. You guys are Hero of Da Grind. Cheers to you, you deserve it.
