Expresso – Chapter 1
Her heart was pounding at rapid speed, her legs were moving as fast as she could make them go. Could she make it to the Gates of the great nation she had dreamed of every since she was a little mithra at her parents home in Kazham? Expresso didn’t dare take the time to look behind her, should it slow her pace or make her stumble and fall. Her eyes were glued to the large tree “Heavens Tower”. She was so close!
As a kit, Expresso was told tales of the great nation of Windurst. Of all the wonderful sights, festivals and activities that were available, that the small village of Kazham could not offer.
At the sight of Heavens Tower, Expresso received a jolt of adrenalin and increased her speed towards her hearts desire. It was close, within her reach; all of her hopes lie behind those gates, if she could just make it. Her lungs are burning with there effort for oxygen they are not receiving. Should she dare look behind to see where her pursuer is? As if in answer to her question, out of the corner of her eye, she saw a large black claw swipe at her, narrowly missing her shoulder.
Out of nowhere there comes some very loud noises SMUCK, BLAM, BLING, startling Expresso so badly it stopped her in her tracks. She swung around expecting yet again to battle for her life. Instead she saw a group of characters, of the like she has never seen before, although they seemed fairly familiar from all the stories and tales she loved to listen to. She was shocked to see this group come to her aid and engage onto the dragon that had been after her.
A large Galka jumped in front of the dragon and bellowed, “Your fight is with me”! He swung his samari sword above his head and brought it down upon the foe’s back. A Hume also stood up to the dragon, brandishing her ninja swords. The tall Elvvan got out his bow and started shooting fire arrows. Then Expresso looked to her right, she couldn’t believe her eyes, she had heard of them but had never seen these before. She took a moment to rub her eyes, could it be real? “Oh my, it is, two small Tarataru, they are real! The Taratarus also joined into the fight, casting spells upon the dragon.
Everything was happening so fast. Expresso got her wits about her and started casting protect spells onto this unlikely gang. She was truly happy that she decided to study the White arts as a kit, it had helped her out a lot on her adventures so far. She cast Stoneskin upon herself, equipped her Kirkin’s Pole, and ran into the foray in front of her.
Side by side Expresso and her comrades took on the dragon. Working together as if a well-oiled machine. Within no time the foe was down to a sliver of life, and with a huge ball of flames, the one tarataru, ended the dragons life.
As they all caught their breath after the battle and rejoiced in the dragons defeat, The Tarutaru named Nerf asked Expresso where she was from and what she was doing so far from home. She told them of her journey and of her hopes to make a new home for herself in Windurst. “Come along” Nerf said, “We were just heading there ourselves”.
Expresso’s new comrades accompanied her to the gates of Windurst. She was dazzled by the sights she seen inside. There were amazing creatures everywhere! Elvaan, Tarataru, Galka, Hume, and more Mithra then she had ever seen before. Everyone seemed to be in a hustle to get this place or that. She was in awe. Expresso’s newfound friends laughed at her excitement as she tossed one question after another at them about what all she was seeing. “Come along” Fsod said, “we will show you around”……
